What is BISP 8171?
It is a social welfare program that provides financial assistance to low-income families. 8171 is a short code through which you can check your registration, eligibility, and payment details on SMS or the web portal.
What’s new in September 2025?
Under the new update, BISP has linked its system with NADRA and NSER databases, through which the CNIC of the applicant is checked to see if he is really eligible or not. This has increased transparency and prevented fake entries.

BISP 8171:Basic Eligibility Criteria
There are some essential conditions to be fulfilled to avail the benefits of the BISP program:
- The applicant belongs to a low-income group.
- Is not receiving any government job or pension benefit.
- There should be no valuable property or vehicle registered in the name of the applicant.
- The PMT (Poverty Measurement Tool) score of the household should be below the prescribed limit (usually less than 32).
- The applicant has participated in the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey.
BISP 8171:How to check eligibility through CNIC
1. Through SMS:
- Type your 13-digit CNIC number (without spaces or dashes) in your mobile.
- Send it to 8171.
- You will receive a reply in some time telling you whether you are eligible, incomplete, or ineligible.

2. Through Web Portal:
- Visit the BISP official website
- Enter your National Identity Card number and the entered code in the form.
- Click on “Find Out”.
- After that, your eligibility details will appear on the screen.
What to do if you are disqualified?
If the system disqualifies you, don’t panic. You can reapply by following the steps below:
- Visit the nearest BISP office and refill your NSER form.
- If your PMT score is high, then you should find out the reasons for it; for example, some old data, children’s education, or income may have been entered incorrectly.
- If the National Identity Card information is incorrect, get it corrected by NADRA.

BISP 8171: Payment Method
If you are eligible, you will be given Rs. 13,500 by the government every three months, which you can get:
- From a nearby bank or BISP campsite,
- Through an HBL Connect agent or ATM,
- After biometric verification.
- Remember, no one else is allowed to receive the money; only the registered woman can receive the payment.

- Do not let your CNIC expire.
- Do not trust any suspicious SMS or calls.
- Use only official channels for registration.
