Sindh Govt Distribute Solar System: Great news for the people troubled by expensive electricity! The Sindh government has announced plans to provide 5 lakh additional solar panels. This project is especially for those low-income people who are being severely affected by the rising electricity bills. Now the poor people will get new opportunities for light, that too without any additional burden!
Under the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government has decided that the burden of expensive electricity will not be allowed to fall on the poor people. That is why this historic project of distributing solar systems has been started, in which free solar energy will be provided to deserving families. Now people will be able to keep their homes lit without any hassle!
In the first phase, 200,000 solar systems are being distributed to the deserving people of Sindh, and now, on the instructions of Bilawal Bhutto, approval has been given to provide another 500,000 systems. This scheme will benefit not only rural areas but also urban households where high electricity bills have made life difficult.
It is not limited to the distribution of solar systems only, but the Sindh government has also started working on other alternative sources of electricity. 18 MW solar systems have been installed in 35 government buildings, while another revolutionary project to generate electricity from waste will also be started soon. Providing cheap and sustainable sources of electricity to the people of Sindh is the top priority of the government.

Why is the Sindh Government Providing Solar Panels?
Bilawal Bhutto emphasized that the rising electricity costs have burdened the poor, and it is necessary to find alternative solutions. Since the Sindh government lacked resources, the program was launched in collaboration with the World Bank to ensure efficient and widespread implementation.
Collaboration with the World Bank
Murad Ali Shah highlighted that due to limited financial resources, the Sindh government launched this program in partnership with the World Bank. This collaboration has enabled the province to expand the solar energy initiative and provide relief to thousands of households struggling with high electricity expenses.

Eligibility Criteria for Free Solar Panels
To benefit from this scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a resident of Sindh.
- Should belong to the low-income category.
- Preference will be given to those living in off-grid or rural areas.
- Must have a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
- Should not already own a solar energy system under any other government scheme.
Distribution Plan for 500,000 Solar Panels
The Sindh government has planned a structured distribution of solar panels to ensure fairness and accessibility:
- Initial Phase: 200,000 solar systems will be distributed across various districts of Sindh, prioritizing remote and low-income households.
- Additional Distribution: In response to Bilawal Bhutto’s direction, the government has approved another 500,000 solar systems.
- Government Collaboration: The program is executed with the assistance of the World Bank, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
- Urban & Rural Focus: While the primary beneficiaries are rural communities, selected urban areas struggling with high electricity costs will also be covered.
Other Energy Initiatives by the Sindh Government
Besides distributing solar panels, the Sindh government is taking additional measures to reduce energy costs:
- Solar Panels for Government Buildings: 35 government buildings in Karachi have been equipped with 18 megawatts of solar energy to cut down electricity expenses.
- Waste-to-Energy Plan: A project to generate electricity from waste is in development.
- Thar Energy Production: Despite opposition, Sindh continues to generate the country’s cheapest electricity in Thar.
